I’ll be blowed 1985 (Agency: J Walter Thompson)

The second commercial in BR’s Reputation Advertising campaign, launched in January 1985. The commercial sought to let viewers know the enormous scale of British Rail’s daily operation, the equivalent of going round the world 22 times every 24 hours. Filmed on the Settle and Carlisle, the commercial features 4472 Flying Scotsman (running wrong line on the ‘up’) being overtaken by an HST.
