Hush Hour (Agency: Saatchi & Saatchi - 1988)

This spectacular 40 second commercial was shot on the concourse at Waterloo between platforms 1 to 5, on Sunday 10th April 1988. Secondary footage was shot at Harpenden at the same time as the launch commercial for the introduction of Thameslink. The commercial features a vast cast of 150 professional dancers. The theme was ‘The bargains start when the rush stops’. It was directed by Jeff Stark who had devised the Gatwick Express campaign back in 1984 and went on to direct all of the classic InterCity commercials of the late 80s and early 90s.
The commercial lead the 1988 sales to drive to boost off-peak travel and Cheap Day Returns and Awaydays. It went on air from Sunday 24th April.
